Secretary  – Annabel (Anni) Sweet

I grew up in Berkhamsted then moved away when I went to University and eventually moved back to Tring in 2002. We moved to Loudwater in December 2013 from Old Amersham and we love it.

I am married to David and have a step-son James who stays with us on a regular basis. You might see George, our cat, around Loudwater. He is the big fat black one with white paws, a white tummy and a short tale (long story). He is super friendly, but he gets fed well at home, so don’t let him persuade you otherwise!

I run my own HR Consulting business www.annabelsweet.com. When I’m not working, I spend my time with friends and family and I love my food and wine. Occasionally I try my hand at a bit golf, although only if it is nice weather.

I joined the LRA to get to know more people in Loudwater and help to keep it as lovely as it is.

Environment Secretary – John Thompson

Born and bred in Northumberland, I moved down south in 1986 and have lived in areas north west of London, eventually moving to Loudwater with my wife Tanya in 2006. We have always lived in conservation areas in St Albans and Hatch End, prior to Loudwater and are passionate about maintaining the beauty and uniqueness of this estate.  When I’m not working in central London, I am a keen glider pilot flying from Dunstable and can often be seen keeping fit on my mountain bike in and around the estate.

Membership Secretary – Roger Trigg

Roger TriggBoth Londoners by birth, my wife Patt and I began our life together in Ickenham where we lived for 16 years before moving to The Drive, Rickmansworth for a further 29 years. After retirement I intensified my interest in gardening to the point that we opened for the National Gardens Scheme for 12 years. We downsized to an Armitage Close bungalow in 2011 and are are now opening for the NGS once again but only by appointment.

After qualifying as a chemist I spent my early professional years in drug research before force of circumstance took me to the British Pharmacopoeia Commission where I exchanged laboratory skills for self-taught computing know-how. I found myself involved in desk-top computing long before Windows was even a twinkle in Bill Gates’ eye. The work itself involved establishing and publishing regulatory quality control specifications for important pharmaceutical products.

Besides gardening I enjoy travel, Singapore being a favourite destination where the Gardens by the Bay project combines the best of Kew, Wisley and the Chelsea Flower Show into one fabulous attraction. I am also president of the Ickenham & Swakeleys Horticultural Society and membership secretary of the St Albans International Organ Festival Society, which should equip me to carry out my duties for this association.

Editor, Ol’ Trout – Andrea Marheineke

I moved to Loudwater in 2015 and quickly fell in love with the neighbourhood. Although I grew up at Cassiobury, I had been away for some years – living overseas and then in London. I’m now enjoying being back on home turf. Loudwater has family ties for me – my uncle and aunt lived here for many years and in more recent times my brother and his family have set up home here too. I particularly enjoy having three small nephews just around the corner.

I work in London marketing professional services, and am passionate about making the most of evening’s in the big smoke. Theatre, concerts, comedy, good restaurants – with great friends – are all favourite pastimes. Living somewhere so peaceful and beautiful but with such easy access to all the capital has to offer is a great blessing.

I am very much looking forward to Editing the Ol Trout newsletter, working with the committee and getting to know more folk within our community.
