Loudwater Macmillan Cancer Support Coffee Morning

On Friday 4th October, Zoe, Steve and Roddie Wright-Brown hosted a charity coffee morning at their home in Trout Rise, providing an opportunity for Loudwater residents to get together while raising valuable funds for MacMillan Cancer Research.

It is the second year the LRA has supported this initiative. Last year we raised an impressive £500, a total that was convincingly exceeded this time around, with an amazing £910 collected this year! Our enormous thanks go to everyone who came along, baked and donated, and to Sunny (Khurram) who secured further contributions by touting cakes and treats at the entrance to the estate. The quality of the bakes on offer were most definitely Paul Hollywood handshake worthy.

The original plan to hold the event outside on Troutstream Way the week before, was unfortunately scuppered by the persistent rain. However, it was heartening to see so many people come along on the rescheduled date and to witness new connections being made between residents, with conversation as well as tea and coffee flowing.

Thank you to our kind and extremely organised hosts, Zoe and family, and also to Sarah Wenzel who once again generously provided a delicious selection of croissants and fairy cakes from her bakery for the occasion.

The next LRA event will also be ‘sugar-fuelled’! We have a Halloween ‘treat walk’ planned for the children on Thursday 31st October at 5pm. Further details to follow soon so watch this space.
